The way the log is dried tells about the quality of the log. The natural way to dry the log is open air, however, because of heavy demand of logs in the market, kilns are used to dry them quickly. Log home kits are likely to settle with time; settling refers to shrinking and compression of the logs. There will be less likelihood of shrinking if good seasoned logs are used. Moisture on the logs is removed by seasoning and this minimizes the probability of shrinking.
